Comments: Despite amazing performance by Jodie Foster, this film fails to elevate itself beyond standard Lifetime Channel movie-of-the-week status. Picture quality is shoddy and bare-bones DVD functions make this an overall pretty dull offering. Would not have purchased in retrospect.

Comments: Though hardly historically accurate, and with quite a few liberties taken with regards to the real Wolfang Amadeus Mozart, this film is surprisingly well produced on all fronts. Great acting, great sets, great costumes, and most importantly . . . great music! It's easy to see why this one won the Oscar, though special praise should go to F. Murray Abraham who provided the perfect villain to Mozart's impressive, though eccentric, genius. The DVD itself is amazing and chock full of documentaries behind all aspects of making the movie. A must have for any serious collector.

Comments: Abysmally tepid and stupid historical butchering of the legend of Attila and his infamous Huns. Typical "Xena" style battle sequences and a laughable leading man in the form of Gerard Butler make this countless rendition of Rome's greatest scourge no better than an average USA Network made-for-tv flop. Oh wait, it was one! The DVD itself can (and should) find better service in your home theater as a convenient beer coaster.

Comments: Though hugely historically inaccurate, I still love this film. Nitpicking aside, the sheer beauty of this film is breathtaking. It has great battle sequences for those action fans, but at its heart this movie is full of tender drama and unrequited love. While the action and gore seems to outweigh the drama, this dichotomy is actually what gives this film its "epic" grandeur. Mel Gibson, for all the flack he received (and still does), did an awesome job both directing and starring in this masterpiece. Bravo!

Comments: Outstanding performances by Morgan Freeman and Jessica Tandy make this Oscar winner about an unlikely friendship blossoming during a dark chapter in American civil rights in the South a true joy to watch. Poignant and full of charm, a truly classic drama fromt he late 80's. DVD extras a bit "dated", with picture and audio quality just a slight notch above average.

Comments: A decent movie with very good performances by Julianne Moore and Dennis Quaid, with an equally strong but understated one from the likeable Dennis Haysbert, brings this movie a step above it's fairly by-the-numbers plot. Though not necessarily vital to any movie buffs collection, the film still warrants at least an initial viewing.
